Holiday with pets in a holiday home

Perfectly equipped for dog and master

Alongside families with children, dog owners are one of the largest target groups for holidays in a holiday home. Holidays with Bello and co. are much more relaxed and uncomplicated in a holiday home or holiday flat than in a hotel. How should your holiday home be equipped so that four-legged and two-legged friends feel comfortable and what is important when renting to pet owners? My holiday property summarises the most important things for you.

Dog owners as holiday home guests

The pet-related market is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Germany. For more and more people, their own four-legged friend is a fully-fledged and much-loved member of the family. This also benefits owners of holiday properties, as most dog owners regularly spend their holidays in holiday homes or holiday flats.

Dog-friendly holiday home facilities

Show your holiday guests that dogs and their owners are very welcome in your holiday home. The most important prerequisite for this is, of course, dog-friendly facilities:

  • a nice place for the basket
  • a feeding and drinking bowl
  • a can opener for the daily feeding of carnivores
  • an old blanket to lie under on the beach, on the sofa, etc.
  • a large, quiet garden and/or a fence around the property so that the dog can go outside alone from time to time
  • dog-friendly neighbours
  • a hoover against flying dog hair

Leisure tips for dog owners

Provide your holiday guests with some information and extras especially for dog owners. For example, the exact location of the local dog beach, information about where a dog must be kept on a lead at the holiday resort, where the nearest vet's surgery is, the nearest pet shop, where there are nice things for dogs to do, which hiking tours in the mountains are also suitable for four-legged friends.

Insurance for pets in holiday homes

The dog owner's liability insurance covers damage to the furnishings. To avoid disagreements with your holiday guests in the event of damage, you can also state directly in the rental agreement that the dog owner is liable for damage to your holiday home.

Expert tip:
"Some landlords add a small additional amount per dog per day to the rental price to compensate for the more thorough final cleaning, etc."
