Macro location

Kellenhusen is idyllically nestled between the 2 km long fine white sandy beach and the large forest area of Kellenhusener Forst. With its pretty little streets and old thatched-roof houses, the former fishing village has always had a special charm. Everyone really feels at home here and there are plenty of leisure activities and sights for every holiday wish.

Kellenhusen in the Bay of Lübeck is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein. This is also due to its easy accessibility: Kellenhusen can be reached directly by car via the A1 motorway. It takes around 70 minutes from Hamburg and around 40 minutes from Lübeck. By train, you can travel to Neustadt in Holstein, Lehnsahn or Oldenburg and from there continue comfortably by bus.

Sports holiday

Kellenhusen is quite sporty. Holidaymakers can get active themselves on the freely accessible SportStrand. Whether beach volleyball, SUP or waveboard - sports and water fun await here. Just like the skating rink and disc golf course on the adventure promenade.

Evening light

Every summer evening, the pier lights up in changing colours, a wonderful spectacle to marvel at and photograph. A special highlight is the show illumination with 31,000 LEDs and appropriate music at the annual promenade festival.

Kissing stop

Kellenhusen has a particularly strong sense of romance and plenty of corners to fall in love with. One particularly beautiful one is the kissing spot directly on the pier with an official licence to kiss. Our tip: fish sandwiches are best enjoyed afterwards.

Fishing village, ice age and forest air - every day on holiday here is special

Kellenhusen was once a small fishing village. Its beautiful location on the coast and friendly down-to-earth attitude made the town popular with holidaymakers from an early age. In 2024, the seaside resort will be celebrating its 140th anniversary. Today, families with small children in particular love Kellenhusen for its wide, gently sloping beach with its gentle waves. Two billion years of geological history lie directly on the Baltic Sea beach. On a guided geological beach walk, holidaymakers can discover fossils and treasures such as the so-called "thunderbolts" and exciting traces of the last ice age.

Kellenhusen Forest covers 600 hectares. The magnificent old mixed forest is ideal for slowing down and exploring. Deer, wild boar and bats live here. There is a forest nature trail, a wild boar enclosure, a forest playground and much more to experience.

Cycling tours

Kellenhusen is made for cycling. Around the Baltic seaside resort, countless beautiful cycle tours take you through the nature, culture and history of the Baltic Sea region. There are hardly any climbs, but plenty of highlights in terms of views and excursion destinations.
