How to inspire guests young and old

Entertainment in holiday properties

Even on holiday, most holiday home guests want to stay in touch with the whole world. You will be happy to have plenty of entertainment and play options in your holiday home - and not just when the weather is bad. My holiday property shows you the most important things about free Wi-Fi, TV and radio as well as games for the little ones in your holiday home.

TV, radio and games console in your holiday home

The crime scene on Sunday evening, KiKa in the morning so that parents can sleep in or the latest news on the radio - delight your holiday home guests with a TV, radio and CD player. Modern HD-capable flat-screen TVs are now the norm. They take up little space, making them ideal for smaller holiday homes, and offer good picture quality.

TV sets with HDMI or USB connections also offer your tenants the option of connecting a games console or watching the day's holiday photos directly on the TV. Depending on the holiday home, you can now receive digital TV channels via satellite dish, roof aerial or cable connection.

Expert tip:
"The largest selection of channels is available via satellite dish. Foreign guests in particular will be delighted if you can also receive TV and radio stations from your home country in your holiday accommodation."

Free WLAN

Checking emails, surfing the internet, streaming your favourite series, playing games online - a holiday home without internet access is now unthinkable for most holidaymakers. Wi-Fi access is usually easy to install for you as the landlord.

Important to know: Liability for WiFi interference in holiday properties

If you provide your guests with Internet access, you are no longer liable for illegal downloads and uploads, e.g. of copyrighted films, according to a recent draft law. Nevertheless, there are a few technical and legal points you should bear in mind to be on the safe side:

  • In addition to your personal access on the router, also set up your own guest access. This will allow you to identify the user at the time in question if necessary
  • Secure the WLAN connection technically, e.g. against unauthorised access
  • Conclude a usage agreement with your tenants that includes an obligation to indemnify against third-party claims. You can obtain a template for this from the German Tourism Association, for example.

Toys for children

Many holiday home holidaymakers are families with children. Offer this important customer group a few extras that will make holiday guests big and small happy: a few board games, a small selection of toys, a cot with duvet and pillow, safe and child-friendly furnishings. This will give them the wonderful feeling that children are very welcome in your holiday home or holiday flat.

Expert tip:
"Families in particular appreciate it when everyone can play together or when there is a small sandpit in your holiday home garden."
