Yellow sea of colours in the blue Baltic Sea - Fehmarn

Fehmarn lies between the Bay of Kiel and the Bay of Mecklenburg and is capturing more and more holidaymakers' hearts. In spring, Germany's third-largest Baltic Sea island is completely immersed in yellow due to the endless rapeseed fields. Four nature reserves and tens of thousands of migratory birds make Fehmarn a natural paradise.

Fehmarn is also a paradise for holidaymakers with 300 km of cycle paths, 17 surf spots, great events, restaurants and farm cafés. Ideal for an eventful holiday and an attractive rental yield on holiday properties.

There are many beautiful natural beaches on Fehmarn

Holiday flats on Fehmarn - from Arne Jacobsen to farmhouses

The holiday properties for sale are at least as varied as the Baltic Sea island. Whether for your own use or as an investment - you have plenty of choice on Fehmarn: Flats by Danish designer and architect Arne Jacobsen, holiday homes in a rural idyll on one of the many farms, holiday flats at one of the marinas or chic new-build projects with direct access to the beach.

Buy holiday properties in Puttgarden, Marienleuchte and Katharinenhof

The ferries to Denmark depart from Puttgarden. Fehmarn's newest attraction is also located here: the gigantic construction site of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. In a few years, it will connect Fehmarn with the island of Lolland.

Holiday home owners can then also look forward to Scandinavian holiday guests. To the south-east lies the small village of Marienleuchte with its magnificent sea views and holiday homes right on the cliffs. Katharinenhof with its wildly romantic cliffs is located on the east coast. Along the old avenues you will find farms with lovingly furnished holiday flats.

Holiday flat in Burg auf Fehmarn and on the south beach in Burgtiefe

Burg auf Fehmarn is the lively capital of the island with numerous shops, restaurants and cafés. A number of holiday property projects have been built here in recent years. The style ranges from classic clinker brick to the casual long island look. Fehmarn's tourist centre is located on the south beach in Burgtiefe.

In addition to the fine, white sandy beach, the new promenade with viewing tower and the marina also provide maritime holiday flair. The holiday flats and bungalows on the south beach regularly achieve top prices when they are sold.

Holiday home for sale in Burgstaaken, Wulfen, Fehmarnsund

Burgstaaken is the town's own harbour with fishing boats, a submarine museum and restaurants ranging from cappuccino to caipi. Countless terns breed on the Wulfen cliffs in summer and holidaymakers also love Wulfen - partly because of the Fehmarn golf course.

The holiday flats at the Fehmarn Golf Club promise an attractive, year-round rental yield. A number of exclusive new holiday properties have been built in Fehmarnsund in recent years. The unobstructed view of the Baltic Sea, the Fehmarnsund Bridge and direct access to the natural beach make Fehmarnsund a very good location on Fehmarn.

Even today, the flag with the golden crown on a blue background is reminiscent of the Danish royal family

Buy holiday flats in Petersdorf, Lemkenhafen and Orth

Petersdorf is the second largest town on Fehmarn after Burg and organises the popular rape blossom festival every year. Holiday flats are often offered for sale here. The small fishing village of Lemkenhafen is located on the Orther Reede roadstead, one of the most popular spots for kiters and surfers on Fehmarn.

Orth seems to consist almost entirely of yacht harbours and thus offers fantastic views when visiting the numerous popular restaurants directly in the harbour. New small holiday homes are often built and sold along the dyke in Orth.

Holiday properties Bojendorf and Westermarkelsdorf

The idyllic village of Bojendorf is located in the west of Fehmarn, right next to the Wallnau nature reserve, and the Baltic Sea is only a few hundred metres away. Holiday flats for sale here are mainly in one of the old farms or in existing detached houses.

Westermarkelsdorf is also located on the west coast of Fehmarn. Holiday properties here are mostly located in old farmhouses or in existing properties and are rarely offered for sale.

Fehmarn culinary

The many restaurants and farm cafés on Fehmarn are a great place to feast all day long. Of course, there is plenty of freshly caught Baltic Sea fish and delicious fish sandwiches, burgers with meat from Galloway cattle straight from the island, typical North German quark specialities, Fehmarn jam with rose petals and the typical "Kröpel" - sweet yeast dough balls that you should definitely try.
